Photography is a potent medium. Speaking without words, it has the ability to unleash emotions in a visceral way. Whether it is fine art, photojournalism, or commercial photography, works by exceptional photographers can touch us deeply.

Think of the impact photography has had on newspapers. Before the first reproduction of a photograph by the New York Daily Graphic in 1880, the only news images people saw were engravings. Seeing actual photographs of news events brought an immediacy never before possible. Imagine opening your newspaper for the first time and seeing pictures of train wrecks, battles, theater stars, or the Worlds’ Fair-suddenly, everything once remote seems very real.

Photography is capable of instilling deep emotions us. Moving images such as Ansel Adams’s black and white photographs of Yellowstone and Yosemite awe us. Severe photos like Margaret Bourke White’s study of rural poverty during the Great Depression overwhelm us. Dreadful scenes of our nation’s wars sadden. Violent scenes of injustice anger us. It is not an understatement to say that a picture is worth a thousand words.

Photographs also move us personally. From the very beginning, people loved having even the smallest daguerreotype of family members to cherish. Civil War soldiers carried tintypes of their wives and sweethearts close to their hearts, and they left behind proud pictures of themselves in uniform. Today, we still cherish photographs of our loved ones with reverence and adore traveling back in time via stacks of family albums.

Most of us “take pictures”. Few, however, have actually taken a course in photography. Studying photography can lead to any number of career opportunities, or it can help you better capture images of the world around you. If you love looking at your surrounding through the eye of a lens, if you love the weight of a good camera in your hands, why not see where that feeling can take you?

Many of the best managers in the world share a single attribute - they have an MBA (Master of Business Administration), the ultimate achievement in business degrees. There is an incredible variety of business degrees available, ranging from generic ones like Batchelor of Business Administration (BBA) or specialist degrees in areas like Human Resources or Marketing. Most of these are undergraduate degrees which have little or no Management content.

Most of those working in business start out in a functional area such as Marketing or Human Resources and are eventually promoted to a management position, often with little knowledge of what’s really involved. They may then decide to enrol for an MBA course in order to improve their management skills. However, an MBA can also be a useful stepping-stone for recent graduates, particularly those from non-business disciplines, and can reduce the time it takes them to achieve a management post.

MBAs were first introduced in the USA in the late 1800s and for many years they remained an American phenomenon. The first European MBAs were introduced in the 1940s and provision in Europe, and particularly in the UK, has grown ever since. Many people believe that a European MBA is superior to an American one, as they are often more rigorous and usually incorporate a thesis. European MBAs are particularly attractive to foreign students as they allow them to live and work in Europe before returning to their own country with a highly valued qualification and the skills required participate in business ventures with European partners.

To meet the needs of prospective students, MBAs are generally offered in both full-time and part-time modes. In recent years they have also been offered by distance learning, initially paper-based but increasingly online. They can be studied in a whole range of locations, but many people like to study in a major European capital like London or Paris. London is a particularly attractive destination due to its cosmopolitan nature and it also gives students a chance to improve their English while studying for their degree.

An MBA programme usually covers a range of areas, including Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Business Law, Marketing Management and Project Management. Some courses are general in nature, while others allow students to specialise in areas such as Finance, Branding or Marketing. Entrepreneurship is a popular option as it is of great interest to students who wish to start their own business.

The dissertation is a crucial component of a European MBA as it allows students to improve their knowledge and experience of a particular business area and to make contacts who will be invaluable in their future business career. The dissertation is normally research based, so most MBA programmes incorporate courses in research methodologies, both quantitative and qualitative, to assist students in carrying out their research.

If you are considering a career in business, or if you have just been promoted to a management position should think seriously about doing an MBA to improve your management skills and to demonstrate their commitment to building a successful career.

According to Sir Issac Newton the Great Pyramid was constructed using units of measurement called cubits. But there were two types of cubit measurements, the sacred and the profane. The differences were based upon the study by a man named Greaves derived their difference from measurements in the Kings chamber.

The profane cubit: was computed when 20.63 British inches produced a room with an even length of cubits: 20×10. However, the other cubit (sacred) Newton derived from Josephus’s description of the circumference of the pillars of the Temple at Jerusalem.

Inside the ante chamber on the wall of the granit leaf is what is known as the “boss.” When the boss is measured from the east wall the distance is 25 inches. It was this meaurement of 25 inches that came to represent what has now been called the sacred cubit, and also 25 units or pyramid inches.

Newton estimated this cubit to be between 24.80 and 25.02 British inches, but believed the figure could be refined through further measurements of the Great PYramid and other ancient buildings of the Hebrew pre-monarchy period.

In his research report and recorded as “A dissertation upon the Sacred Cubit,” of the Jews, Newton with John Greaves, and with calculations from the Great Pyramid and from cubit measurements from other nations determined the profane cubit.

Unfortunately, Newton’s calculations were based on inaccurate measurements by Greaves on the base of the Pyramid. Do to insufficient clearance of the debris around the Pyramid’s base, Greaves figures were slightly in error.

What Do X-Ray Technicians Do?

Radiology and imaging is one of the best careers you can get yourself right now. If you become a part of this field there’s a great chance that you’ll land a good job because of the current shortage of professionals engaged in it as compared to the great demand for it. There are actually several positions you can choose from.

A radiology technician, a radiology technologist, a radiologist, and of course, an X-Ray technician: all these fields are attainable for you. The basic underlying rules are the same for all although the amount of training and educational background needed varies from one position to another.

But it’s a long road ahead. You have to acquire at least one to four years training in the field of radiology and imaging at least. In addition you have to be a certified MD in order for you to become an actual radiologist, with the proper training required for those who are only looking to pursue a career in x-ray technology. The training period for x-ray technicians usually lasts for two to four years in a hospital-based x-ray technology program on in a medical school. Radiographic physics and anatomy, proper patient positioning and technique, quality control, dark room skills, and radiation safety are just some of the skills picked up by prospective candidates.

Students will experience hands-on training in a medical establishment where days are split between classroom discussions and actual performance of the future tasks that will be assigned to them if they ever become professionals. One great thing about being in the x-ray technology industry is that employment prospects will tend to remain strong because of a constantly aging population. Eventhough most x-ray technicians can be found in hospitals, the number of stand-alone clinics and x-ray centers are fast rising.

There are a few that may even land jobs in private physician offices like orthopedic practices, mobile x-ray services, and in sales support. There is a certain level of specialization that is demanded by the x-ray technology industry, but it is hardly unattainable. All it needs is some hard work.

The field of Conservation shapes a wide number of food needs, crop management and soil. Students interested in earning degrees in Conservation and Ecology must understand such specialized fields as water conservation, forests, wildlife extinction, wildlife management, pesticides, waste management and more. Effective courses should include in-depth environmental case studies that challenge prospective students to examine how ecological concepts apply in the field.

Vocations in Conservation and Ecology often engage spending a good deal of time in the wild. Observing and protecting the purity of natural reserves and wildlife refuges and endangered wetlands could well be part of a potential student’s career. Some graduates may even work in the corporate sphere, working to acquire the funds and the awareness of various environmental organizations.

A wide range of careers that manage, conserve and protect natural resources contain such employment opportunities as park ranger assistant, visitor center specialist, biologist wildlife assistant, wildlife handler, nature park specialist, conservation educator, marine life aquarium worker, forestry technician, horticulture aide, environmental lobbyist, grass roots organizer, adventure tour guide, zoological society specialist, museum specialist, and more. The forests and parks of the United States are lush resources, providing tremendous beauty and incredible peace. A key element of conservation is the successful managing of the resources contained in the forests and harvested woodlands. Graduates of the Conservation and Ecology curriculum are trusted to develop, maintain, and protect the forests of the nation. The logging industry cultivates thousands of acres of forests each year, supplying the apparently insatiable hunger for paper, and it is the conservationist who must safeguard the rest of the forests.

Those who may be employed by state and local administrations, or who may be contracted by such governments to clear away underbrush and garbage from park trails, roadsides, and designated camping areas. Some conservation consultants and ecologists may be contracted to maintain various facilities and campgrounds. Other forest and conservation consultants work in forest nurseries, sorting out tree seedlings and discarding those that don’t meet the standards of root formation, stem development, and condition of foliage.

A few conservation and ecology students may find employment on tree farms, where they plant, cultivate, and harvest various kinds of foliage. The duties of students vary with these types of farms. Those who work on specialty farms, such as farms growing Christmas or ornamental trees for nurseries, are accountable for shearing treetops and limbs to shape the growth of the trees under their care, to increase the density of branches, and to recover the shape and health of the trees.

No doubt, this is a field of study that brings a diverse number of prospective students into contact with Nature and the pleasures of the great outdoors.

Online business intern programs can be a good way to learn about internet marketing. Here is some information that may help you to decide whether an intern program would work for you.

Most people find it easier to absorb new information when it is presented in a way that they prefer. Many people learn best by reading. Others prefer to watch or listen to video or audio training materials. However, there is no substitute for real, practical experience, where the learner actually performs the task.

Most people already understand the general idea of intern programs. They are a way for students to gain practical, ‘hands-on’ experience. Watch any ‘hospital drama’ on TV and you’ll see interns being overworked and underpaid.

Online business intern programs are similar, except not as demeaning! They create a situation where interns can gain practical experience. Usually, a daily task will be assigned to an intern. Tasks usually take one to two hours to perform. The intern will receive written instructions, and perhaps video training, explaining how to do the work. They are expected to report their results by email.

Tasks are usually designed to promote or improve the Internet marketer’s business. The intern gets to learn how to do the tasks so that they can use them to build their own business.

The relationship is mutually beneficial. While the marketer benefits from a group of interns promoting his business, the interns are given a structured hands-on learning environment, with daily commitments.

There are some disadvantages to intern programs. Marketers must be selective about the tasks they expect interns to perform. For instance, one marketer gained a reputation as a spammer when his interns started posting poorly-executed blog comments on a number of internet marketing blogs.

Unfortunately, only between 1% and 5% of all interns will take action and actually complete any intern program.

It’s also important that an intern program allows interns to work at a reasonable pace. It can be frustrating for interns if they are given tasks which are too demanding, especially at the beginning of the program.

It’s important that interns receive some long-term benefit from their participation. Interns who complete my intern program, for instance, will have a network of Web 2.0 assets and a number of valuable backlinks which will prove invaluable to their own business.

If you decide to sign up for an online business intern program, remember that taking action and doing the work is the only way for it to be of any value.

People of all ages baby-sit, in fact if you look online some companies have made it their business. But whether you are teenager or an adult, you cant go wrong when you take some fun activity ideas along with you for the evening. Here are two activities that can be extremely fun for the kids you are babysitting. Remember the more fun they have, the more likely you will be called back.

Bubble making Activity - Kids have so much fun with something so simple as bubbles, and they have even more fun when they make the bubble stuff themselves. You will need a few ingredients to make this happen. Bring corn syrup and dish soap with you.

1/3 cup water 2 tablespoons of corn syrup 1/3 cup dish soap

Mix everything up and use one of the kids bubble blowers to blow bubbles. If they don’t have a bubble blower then use some of the kitchen utensils. Anything that has a hole in it will work, like a handle, or a potato masher, or an apple peeler.

Here is another great babysitting activity, you will want to try. Make play dough from scratch. You can do this at home before you go or with the kids. You will need a few things like water, flour, food coloring, cream of tartar and vegetable oil.

2 cups boiling water 4 teaspoons cream of tartar Food coloring 2 cups flour 1 cup of salt 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil

Add the coloring to the water that is boiling. Add all the rest of the ingredients and mix well, the more you nead the dough the nicer the consistency will be. Store the whole thing in a plastic container. You can either make this with the kids or before you go to your babysitting engagement.

These two great activities will give the kids hours of fun. The activities can be combined and if you still are looking for stuff to do with the kids then you can add a cool Disney movie to get them relaxed. Be sure to integrate some role playing in with the play dough making.

Alcoholics Anonymous is an organization that supports recovering alcoholics. Although Alcoholics Anonymous is a centralized organization with a main office and official website, there are over one hundred thousand sub-groups worldwide in over 150 countries, and each one is fundamentally autonomous. Groups meet in various venues and get together in a wide variety of numbers, from only a few to several hundred individuals. Alcoholics Anonymous started organizing meetings in 1934, when it was founded by Dr Bob Smith and Bill Wilson. Until that point, alcoholics either had to hire an expensive psychiatrist or be admitted into a private mental hospital. Those without much money sought help in rescue missions, churches, public hospitals, or even in prisons. Alcoholics Anonymous was the first North American approach to strictly helping alcoholics. It was also one of the first American organizations to integrate religious principles with medical knowledge into public forums where people discussed their everyday experiences and supported each other mutually. The founders of Alcoholics Anonymous credited their ideas as coming from the Oxford Group (a Christian group promoting a belief in divine guidance), which worked to create a conversion experience that could be used to convert alcoholics from alcohol to sobriety.

Alcoholics Anonymous became famous for its 12-step program, which has become a model for many other treatment and recovery programs. The 12 steps include variations of the following: 1) Admitting that you are powerless over alcohol. 2) Coming to believe that a power greater than yourself alone can help. 3) Deciding to turn your life over to the care of your God. 4) Searching your own moral inventory. 5) Admitting the nature of your wrongs. 6) Allowing the defects of character to be removed. 7) Asking to remove your shortcomings. 8) Listing all those you’ve harmed and becoming willing to make amends. 9) Making direct amends to people. 10) Continued personal inventories. 11) Prayer/meditation and pursuit of knowledge. 12) Experiencing a spiritual awakening and carrying this message to others.

Alcoholics Anonymous was the first in a lot of things, being in itself the first approach of North America to help alcoholics. It was also one of the first American organizations to incorporate religious concepts and ideas into treatment. People shared their experiences with each other and each of them showed support to another. The founders of the organization based their ideas from a Christian group called Oxford Group. Having said that, Alcoholics Anonymous aims to help alcoholics convert alcohol to sobriety.

Today, the groups under this organization is not connected to any political or religious organization. Its goal is mainly to help people stay sober. You get an instant membership to this group by an alcoholic, mixed with the desire to quit the habit. You don’t need to pay any fee. All you need is the right goal - avoiding alcohol one drink at a time, and getting the needed support from people.

Essay questions are becoming increasingly popular for both job interviews and university applications because it gives universities and companies an insight into an individual’s ability to think logically and clearly. If you’re going to be taking an exam like this, keep these several things in mind to help increase your score.

Read Each Question Carefully

If you will be writing on one question or several, you need to first determine the topic and the type of answer required. Read the question carefully. Very often, the test taker will scan the question and start writing, thinking this will save time. That’s the worst approach for an essay-style test. The few minutes it takes to completely understand the question is really an investment in your future score. If possible, circle the key words in the question, so that when you begin to write, you will stay on topic.

Let the Ideas Come To You

When you first sit down and begin to read the question or questions, you might start thinking of responses right away. That’s fine. Take a moment to jot these ideas down the margin of your test booklet. Use short phrases or even single words that will help you remember your initial thoughts. Doing this will help you release creativity and clarity that you might otherwise spend on remembering your original thoughts. Because you have these thoughts written down, you can simply let go of them. Just take a moment to capture every thought that comes into your mind as you read through the questions.

Use the Stress to Your Advantage

Like it or not, your stress level is going to increase during an exam, and this is normal. However, this can also be an advantage to you, since your mind is going to work much faster than normal. If you completely focus on the test in front of you, you’ll do much better. If you do this, you can come up with an amazing amount of information. Stress is your body’s response to being put under pressure, and it can also increase your ability to form logical thoughts and sentences. So accept that the stress is going to be there and use it to your advantage.

Outline

It will take you about two minutes to outline an essay, but it’s going to increase your ability to write during the essay if you take those few minutes to do it. Once you know the question thoroughly and have jotted down a few thoughts about it, sketch an outline you want to follow during your essay. You can turn the subheadings of your outline into the first sentences of your paragraphs. This will save you time and increase logical thought progression.

Don’t Ramble

Taking a moment to outline your essay is going to help keep you from rambling. You can also use the outline thoughts as subheadings or as the first line of each paragraph for your essay. Whether you do it on purpose (to fill white space: bad idea) or as a result of poor organisation, rambling doesn’t make you look good to the examiner. Be clear, concise and succinct in your answers, and this will increase your chances of success.

Watch Your Time

If you’ve got a particular amount of time to finish each question, make sure you move on once your time is up. Don’t put any “finishing touches” on any one question because you’re going to need this time to finish the whole exam. Move onto the next question so that you give each one adequate time. In addition, each question may become progressively harder, and you’ll need to stay within each question’s timeframe with your responses.

Finishing

Even though you might not be satisfied with your finished essay once time’s up, don’t worry. This is a completely normal response and is common with essays, which don’t usually have definitive answers. Those who score your essay will understand that you were under a time limit and they’re not going to be looking for perfection. Instead, they’re going to be looking for how well thought out your ideas are and how well you were able to communicate your key points. If you stay focused during your exam, you’ll finish well.
